Short femur vs long femur This is going to change the way your squat is going to look. Doesn’t mean your squat is wrong! This is why trying to copy how someone else squats most likely won’t help you become a better squatter. Long Femurs: 1. More Forward Lean: People with longer femurs typically have to lean their torso more forward to keep their balance during a squat & the barbell over their center of mass. This is because the longer thigh bones push the hips further back when squatting down, requiring the upper body to counterbalance by leaning forward. 2. Greater Hip and Knee Flexion: To achieve depth in a squat, those with longer femurs might need to flex their hips and knees more. This can make deep squats feel more challenging, particularly in maintaining an upright torso and avoiding lower back strain. Short Femurs: 1. More Upright Torso: People with shorter femurs can typically maintain a more upright torso during a squat. Since their hips don’t have to move as far back to keep balance, they can keep their chest up more easily throughout the movement. 2. Easier Depth: Achieving a deep squat can be easier for those with shorter femurs because they require less hip and knee flexion to reach depth. This can make the squat feel more natural and less taxing on the hips and lower back. #squats #squatform #squatguide #squatgoals #howtosquat #anatomy #strongoverskinny #strengthtraining #girlswholift #compoundexercises #lowbarsquat #highbarsquat #fitnessmotivation #gymbeginner
