Chicka chicka boom boom is a great baby book. They love the rhythm the bright colors they can memorize it as a song and learn their letter names but you are 💯 that it’s not the right book to learn reading skills.

my godson is 6 and reads this book perfectly fine as well as others. i think you have a good idea just like phonics had but i've seen plenty of kids read chicka chicka boom perfectly fine. with that being said, i get your point and it's the same point hooked on phonics taught us

It’s really not if they are taught appropriately. What you need is to sell phonics programs for parents. The need to understand digraphs, blends, cvc, cvce, and more

I just wanna say that I got this set for when she was ready to start reading solo. TODAY WAS THAT DAY. she has been trying to read but the books she was grabbing off the shelf were not for her. so today I put these out on the table. I didn't say anything. I just grabbed my book and started reading and she came by and grabbed the tag one and started reading and stopped and shouted "IS THIS READING? im reading!" 😭 she ended up reading it again then read tap and yum!

Unfortunately, I don’t know too many parents nowadays who are actually sitting down with their children and reading books to them because the parents are on their screens and the kids are on their screens, and nothing is getting learned.

private preschools and kindergartens have classes on phonics for a reason! it’s a priceless skill when learning to read.

This is why they need to bring back Read Between the Lions. There was always a segment of the show that taught kids what letters sound like when teaching them the word of the day.
