@nickjayala: My kids don't get an allowance. They send me invoices. Chores don't pay in my house, that's just family. But reading pays, doing something scary pays, and a real idea pays best of all. Allowance teaches kids money shows up because they exist. That's employee training at seven years old. #parenting #money #kids

Most of the comments are missing the point , he is giving then a monetary incentive for them to push themselves into uncomfortable things , reading a book - but what did you learn , ie teaching them to think for themselves, ideas , free and imaginary thoughts , doing things that scare you , public speaking or riding a roller coaster. Being about to over come fear to complete action .. the pay is a simple incentive one they can relate to , immediately to get things they want by doing things that are making them grow as humans !

My dad used to make us give quotes for services. Like garden work that needed to be done. Not standard stuff like grass cutting, but stuff like digging drainage etc. We needed to pay to rent his tools to do the work etc. Best education ever. Learned vastly more from him than 12 years in the standard schools system.

Teaching kids that making effort is a bad thing, how dare you teach them about life instead of letting them get hit hard with the realities of life at 21 😅😂😂😂😂

Cool. I got an allowance of sorts. If wanted something, my dad asked how much it was. I told him. he asked what was is worth to me. we would come to an agreement on what chorse I could do and value of said chore. When I asked for a car to go to school in stead of riding the bus, I had hold an A average, besides sports I had to be involved in school, and get a job. at anytime that my grades slipped he would take the car away. If I failed or or couldn't my grades back to A average he would sell it. As a result I was in AP classes, involved in school and worked 30 hrs a week.

I know this looks like a BS influencer clip, but there's real wisdom in this because it literally trains the brains of the children with perfectly real reward mechanisms.

My child does all that for free. In my country we get money back for bottles returned to the store so he collects them and get paid. Or pick flowers or berries and sell it. He learns business. He is 7 and the future is bright. I’m going to teach him AI and see what he can do with that. Being employed is something I teach him not to be. Ever.
