They went to the graves of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the martyrs of Karbala and mourned with great sadness. Luhuf and Shaykh Abbas Qummi's Nafas al-Mahmum mention their grief and remembrance of the sacrifice of Karbala. It is also reported in Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 98 that Jabir ibn Abd Allah al-Ansari visited the grave of Imam Hussain (A.S.) on Arbaeen and is remembered as one of the first pilgrims. According to Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 98 and Nafas al-Mahmum, the visit of the captives to Karbala became a symbol of patience, faith, and loyalty to the message of Imam Hussain (A.S.). Shia scholars explain that Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (A.S.) and Bibi Zainab (S.A.) kept the memory of Karbala alive through their mourning and by telling people the truth about what had happened.
