@lettereleven: Being bumped into, squeezed past, stepped over, or met with annoyed or confused looks is so normalized for #WheelchairUsers that many of us expect it. I stopped filming once it got really crowded because I needed to give my full attention to staying safe. #Accessibility isn't just about getting through the entrance, it's about being able to experience the event alongside everyone else. This isn't only about crowd etiquette. It's also about how venues are designed and managed. When accessible viewing areas, crowd flow, and emergency planning aren't thoughtfully considered, disabled people end up carrying the extra risk just to participate. We're not spectators, we're part of the crowd, too. I stayed off to the side and still felt "in the way" because there was nowhere else to go. How do we create spaces where everyone can show up, belong, and enjoy the moment safely? 🫶 #AccessibilityMatters #EventPlanning #TorontoLife

DaniAshleyArts :
Fun fact, everyone gets stepped over and pushed around at a crowded party. If anything you were just getting the full experience 😅

So just to be clear, you’re having the same experience as everyone else in the crowded space?

I’m confused because I’ve always seen that disabled people want to be treated the same as able bodied people. But when you are treated the same and they just party around you, you think they hate you?

It’s normal for this on a dancefloor though. It happens to able bodied people all the time too

i mean this in the nicest way possible but people that are standing also get pushed around, squeezed past, their feet stepped on, etc. that's what happens when people are packed in like sardines

I work at a farmers market that gets pretty crowded and I cannot believe how often I see someone in a wheelchair take a butt to the face. The spatial awareness skills of the general public are BLEAK.

I always find it insane that some people have no regard or compassion for disabled ppl/people with mobility aids, cause a wheelchair is an extension of your BODY 😭 imagine telling someone “can you leave your arms are bugging me.”

Everyone experiences this. It’s a crowded area. Do you expect people extend the walls just so you can have more space

This happens to everyone no matter if you have a wheelchair or not. Its not because you are disabled, its because its a crowded space.
