@littlelovesrabbitrescue: Toad was just 10-12 weeks old when she was bought from a petting zoo at a large community festival and then surrendered to us when the buyer saw that she had two large wounds on each hind leg as soon as she got her home. Toad had to be sedated and have damaged skin removed at our vet as soon as she received her. Her intake post went viral in our area. Many people shared their own stories of the abuse the animals endured this year and in years past. Many stories included rabbits, ducks and chicks being dropped, thrown, stepped on or dunked into water buckets by kids with no supervision by the vendor or parents. This year, because of Toad and community members demanding change, the committee agreed to no longer use the petting zoo as a vendor.
