Also, scientists believe they are an example of insular DWARFISM. Meaning, they used to be a lot bigger before they ended up stuck on islands and shrunk due to different environment.

Their giant ancestors once occupied the island of Flores, in Indonesia - an island they shared with a species of human known as H. fiorensis, or "hobbit people". Due to a phenomenon known as "island dwarfism", these human cousins averaged about three feet tall. So in a sense, as far as they were concerned, Komodo dragons were just plain goddamn dragons.

plus they are slightly venomous. they bite you, inject venom, then they stalk you. the venom is not deadly at all but it acts like a drug that makes you slow, sleepy, and delerious. at that point, the victim is easy prey.

They also have venom glands and eat people. Latest confirmed case was in 2009. And they can swim long distances and momentarily outrun a human. So basically they just decided to not conquer the world and just chill in a few islands in Indonesia.

They're also venomous. The venom contains anticoagulants and stuff that lowers blood pressure and causes shock. Think heavy bleeding that doesn't stop because the blood can't thicken, and rapid organ failure because the organs don't get blood and oxygen 🙃

When you visit them, please remember the closest hospital is like 2hour away with helicopter. They have to fly you to Bali or you will die from bacterial infection from their saliva. The small one living on the tree and adults on the ground in the bushes waiting to attack their pray.
