We keep ours in a bowl and then when visitors come allow them to choose one when they leave. It’s much more community oriented as the rocks don’t really belong to anyone but the Earth.

Those are pebbles. My kids find ROCKS I have them put them around our front plants so others can see them when looking at the plant. Do people look at the plants NO but my kids think they do. 🥰
