@dipperandjinx: here’s to hoping people finish & comprehend the whole video before commenting about “bad” cat foods 🫣😅💖 **prices per month are listed as if the food is being fed exclusively** working at a pet store in a low income area taught me about the need to provide information that meets people where they’re at—not just the “ideal” way to care for pets, like most accounts share on social media (which is often over-the-top for the sake of entertainment). i hope this video shows how to identify the *true* cost per month for cat foods; i want pet owners on a budget to find what works within their means, no matter what is available to them !! happy to answer any further questions regarding this in the comments 💖 #catfood #catcare #catowner #newcatowner #dipperandjinx @Friskies @Temptations
I don’t even look at the price or calculate budget 😭 all the prices at PetSmart are at least 15 or 50% off depending on the brand. So grateful to work in the pet industry. The discounted food is such a God send

“They shouldn’t have a cat if they need to budget food!” Have we ever considered that this wasn’t an issue and just became one? And so what. I believe cat food is like human food, same ingredients just a different label at a different price. (Correct me if I am wrong!)

my cat gets dry food along side her wet food which is enough calories for her so luckily im a little less reliant on calorie count on food

To show how insane this is, it costs $45 a month to feed my 75lb dog. And that’s also high quality food.

I HATEEE food shaming. My cats are ex strays , and I broke bih. It was either they quite literally starve or freeze to death (I found both during Missouri winters) or come inside to a warm home and eat their shitty cat chow and random ass wet food I find at aldis

Imma be honest this was educational solely because I wasn’t aware that you had to feed them x amount of calories. Everybody always emphasizes wet food over dry food and I assumed just because it’s lower calorie and healthier. My boy used to get 2-3 cans of fancy feast a day and had 24/7 access to dry food but he only really grazed on it in between feedings. He was always a healthy weight though!

Honestly though, ‘budget friendly’ should not account only for food here, as many of these brands are known to cause diabetes, obesity, heart and kidney problems! These issues would be less likely if fed a more balanced diet, and therefor would the money be better given out. Of course there will always be people not able to feed for a higher budget then this and of course that should also be considered. 💕

If you could you should totally make a list of cat foods ranked healthiest to least healthy and then one of cheapest per kcal to most expensive by kcal. That'd make it super easy to choose a food cause you could look at what you can afford and then see what's healthiest in your price range

okay gonna be vulnerable real quick, i’m struggling financially so all my boy has been getting lately is kibble that i hydrate with water. i give him two scoops a day, the scoop is 1/4 cup is this enough until i can get back on my feet to add wet food and other things? he isn’t very active we do play about 15-30 mins a day (i try to play more but he just does his own thing)

Winco has 5oz cans for .57 cents. It makes it about 30.00 for my cat. I do higher end foods when on sale but Winco helps me be able to keep wet food as my cat’s full diet.
