@amzinophysiotherapy: A medial malleous fracture occurs when the ankle twists outwards forcefully causing the ankle to roll (eversion). Commonly the deltoid ligament will be stressed causing it to pull or fracture the end of the medial malleolus resulting in an avulsion fracture. Other structures such as; vascular supply, deep layers of the skin, nerves, tendons and ankle joint capsule will be affected by this trauma. Within the first 12 hours of injury paitents experience bruising, pain, swelling and difficulty weight bearing. Treatment would require relocating the ankle to normal alignment and immobilising the joint for prolonged periods surgical intervention may be required depending on the severity of ligamentous tear and bony fractures. Rehabilitation of dislocations tend to be 3-4 months to return back to normal activities of daily living. But for this patient 6-12 months especially if the patient would like to return to sporting activity. Follow for more physiotherapy reacts🫱🏿🫲🏽#liveincentiveprogram #zerotohero #football #physiotherapy
