Weirdly enough, I always felt like derek understood her in such a great way 😭 and definitely not romantically obviously he just knew her, he learned to love her through meredith and she saved his life with a gun to her head.

When she welcomed George into the dead dad’s club after his father died and just stood with him while he grieved? When damn near everyone with kids on that show wanted her to be their child’s God mother? When she told Meredith that she was the sun? The emotions were ALWAYS in the room with us.
