Girl have some empathy😭 they just broke up with someone who they thought they were going to probably marry so ofc they’re probably going a little crazy when they lost their whole life plan and the person they built a connection with and trusted the most. It’s not “pick me” for women to want a relationship, just like how it’s not “single misery” when women choose to be alone and doing your own thing.

Honestly I have the pick me seed and it’s the worst thing as a newly single woman

I mean yeah but also the grief you feel post a long term relationship is immense and it’s normal to want more support than usual… a life you knew is dead

in my experience I have been able to tell when someone has the pick me seed even if it's dormant while they're in a relationship. they make it very obvious. they walk into a room alone and can NEVER hold their own.

i broke up after an 8+ year relationship. our parents met we were supposed to set wedding dates. damn right i am having a psychotic break. can we stop making fun of people for having human emotions?

My roommate in college would always have the next bf lined up before the official breakup. Not cheating, just like you could TELL she had identified her next bf, then broke up with the existent one. It was wild.

omg i just made a video on how oftentimes some of the most disregulated ppl ever are hiding in the “protection” long term relationships and how learning to regulate on your own is really an adult life skill that can be hard to develop if you always have the “crutch” of a constant person to co-regulate with

On my worst day as a single woman, I’m jealous of women who get to claim that status bc they don’t have to do the work of discovering their individuality/identity outside of a man. Then I get over it lol

One of the most partner-centred people I know is a lesbian woman… so, there’s that.

Or maybe, just maybe, it's okay for a woman to grieve someone and the future she thought she'd have with them? Why is it so normalised to look for things to criticise when someone is already going through a hard time? Not being supported could lowkey hurt as much as the breakup itself...

I get what you mean, it IS important to have a sense of self & individuality, but there’s nuance. You can have your own thing going on, but if you invested time & emotions into another person for years, you still might go a little crazy during that withdrawal period. Sure, having hobbies & your own thing going on will help, but it’s still difficult. Two things can be true at once. And I think we criticize women so much about how they handle things, saying they have a “pick me” seed for going through it is giving a sense of superiority instead of giving grace

Sounds more like not knowing how to be there for ur friend while her heart is breaking and a severe lack of empathy.

I think it's a little disingenuous to call it a Pick Me Seed. Loneliness, in nature, for a social species like humans (unlike, say, reptiles), means death. We need close relationships (I.e. people sleeping and eating with us) for feelings of protection, second sets of eyes to look out, and second sets of hands to help out.

well you share your whole life with someone, your every day like is adjusted to them. even if you can be on your own, you live with your partner. and suddenly you lose this important person. no matter how many hobbies you have, you WILL suffer for a while. you lost a person you love.

Unless it’s me misunderstanding what you’re saying, I think a lot of people are misunderstanding. I agree it’s like grief after a long term relationship break up and so to ‘crash out’ is normal and okay in my opinion. But what I think you’re saying is you’ve never known that person single and you don’t realise how male centered they are until they become single and that actually all their self worth and life revolves around men. I had a friend like that who I stopped being friends with because once they were single I realised how male centered they were to the point of disappearing on a night out and leaving you alone in order to seek male attention or putting you down in group settings for male attention or repeating the same destructive patterns and expecting you to support them emotionally and taking your advice whilst never making any changes.

I'm going through a break-up for the 2nd time in my life and I'm feeling that urge to farm male validation, partly as 'revenge', partly because my ego is a bit bruised... But now I'm trying to sit with the feeling and not act on it. I want to speak to the manager within!!
