Its very much implied that Luke never actually cared about the demigods and just cared to get revenge on his dad for leaving him with his psychotic mum. he killed, manipulated, groomed and led to insanity (Chris, his own brother) young children who trusted him, the very people he was trying to protect or so he says. He was completely selfish and let others take rhe fall for his own gain, letting Percy and the others go in som just to come back at the last second to steal the fleece while they did all the work, manipulated Annabeth into holding rhe sky for hours so he won't have to, putting his own followers into a gladiator match to gain entrance in the botl instead of fighting himself, for a so called liberator and hero he never actually did anything just made others do it for him. There were so many other ways for him to get the change he said to have wanted like making cabins for the minor gods like they did at the end of tlo, have satyrs go through actual training so if they find a demigod they would be able to protect them, have demigods join satyrs in their quest for demigods like how Percy, Annabeth and Thalia went to go help Grover recruit the di angelo siblings for further safety but instead he chose the terrorist route and made everyone sacrifice themselves so he would be the hero. His actions contradict his words so it very much looks like that his pitch about saving the demigods and making change is just so that people can help him get revenge without ever actually caring for the cause.

well, There wasn't a way to end Olympus without fighting the Camp demigods. It's cold and cruel, but it's the true. The gods wouldn't stay still and let Luke destroy them, but neither would move a finger if they didn't see it fit: Kronos used Luke and the demigods, The Olympians did the same and won to keep doing it

He’s a good antagonist because his reasonings for what he did is relatable to a certain degree. His execution however is so fucked up because he really was o my thinking about himself and honestly kind of acting impulsively because of it. He’s the complete opposite to Percy in the sense that he let his anger at the gods blind him to fight his brethren where as Percy’s anger at the gods and their shitty parenting pushed Percy to step up and fight for their safety

Luke was right, yeah, but didn't fight for it on the right way. And, he was also manipulated like at 17 or 18. He's not a villain, he's an antagonist and also a victim. He did bad things, yeah ofc he did. But was it really totally him?

that's mostly an issue of how the story is framed, Rick Riordan decided that demigods were basically child soldiers and that there was no moral issue of making them fight in a war between gods and titans/giants. Its a war, if there is no issue of having them fighting for both sides then there is no moral issues killing them. The whole problem is that there isnt a system for demigods implying that the kids are trained and educated and adults are the ones fighting. But adults are entirely missing from the picture, like everyone is dead past 18 in this universe. So yes the issue is Rick Riordan choice of having children only available to fight wars.

yeah I dont get why people just excuse all his wrongdoings I really hate those fanfics when they try to do that. yes he was right in being angry at the gods but he just aligned himself with the worst being ever not to mentioned caused a lot of destruction and so many to die.
