If zombie didn't mistreat them all none of them would have burned, obviously needing money doesn't excuse arson but he was desperate and promised only the kirchen would burn, as well as no one would die.

just know, if ivory wasn't playing the piano she likely would've died with the others, zombie was finally starting to realize that he was in the wrong, the hemlocke siblings finally started to bond, if ivory didn't come sooner she would've been the only one left alongside kantje, vii had to watch all his older siblings and FATHER die in front of him, Pyro never got to properly grieve mysticat, the fact clown was probably in the boiler room he most likely would've died first unable to warn the others, reddoons is GOING to have survivors guilt after knowing the tragedy, ivory's was pyro's final MAID task while her final task was to save serapter and care for him, the only window that was broken was clown's office where serapter was in, which probably meant he broke it but tried to go back in and get the others but failed, and the final knife twist, if any of the maids and butlers had siblings or family they would never be able to see them again, not that they were ever able to due to the terrible work conditions zombie put the workers under.

Whitepine does feel like a critique of capitalism and the capitalist system, as well as the bourgeoise who attempt to preserve it, both in a status quo or reactionary manner and a reformist manner like Zolister as we see even the reformist of Zolister still shoots bears, is semi patronising and cares only for profits rather than the welfare of the people who work as well.
