at my vets recommendation who does that with her horses, I put Epsom salt (food grade) in my old guys feed esp the ones that have a history of colicing, only two tbl spoons but it keeps them from getting stocked up cause they don't always drink enough and once a month a couple days of psyllium husk powder. it has saved me from alot of issues.
