I feel the video is kind of misleading.. It’s Korean slang. We call the awkward grow out phase “거지존” which literally means “beggar zone” because your hair is at that messy, difficult to style stage. It’s not meant to insult or make fun of people who are homeless or struggling. In Korean, “거지” is also used in expressions to mean something is really bad or sucks, like “아 기분 거지 같아,” which means “I feel like shit,” not “I feel like a beggar.” It may sound harsh when translated literally, but that’s not the meaning or intention behind the expression.
