@kageabroad: Replying to @scoma48 you have to be able to objectively talk about the bad things and own up to your actions at some point. Yes, bad things happen. I have lots of sympathy for Rudeus. I have made over 500 positive videos about the series however, I can also talk about the negative things and be objective. Most people cannot. #mushokutensei #joblessreincarnation #ruduesgreyrat
What I've noticed from being a fan of Mushoku Tensei for a long time is that the fandom has steadily gotten worse as time has gone on. Back when the first season was airing, the majority of the fans I was seeing were responding to the hate with what were basically essays explaining why Rudeus turned out how he did without excusing him, but as time has gone on with the people who hate the series repeating the same shit for years, most of those fans just got sick of it and either stopped responding, or joined the annoying fan boys in just throwing out mindless defenses. Now,the whole conversation around the series is basically one group acting like Rudy is a saint who does no wrong, while another group acts like he's this monster who hasn't changed and is perpetually defined by his worst actions. It's one of the reasons I don't really recommend this series to people, I don't want them to join either of those groups.

AtP after knowing everything about Rudeus in the old world, he got fd over super hard. People denying or making seem like its not a big deal, legit dk how the world is or they blind af. Vice Versa people saying Rudeus is justified in doing certain actions arent any better, people need to see this from an understanding pov rather than demonizing tf out of Rudeus. Had he gotten anytype of said hep or justice, his morals being shot to hell and trauma would've gotten cured and the funeral scene may never of happened.

Saying that he does change and become a better person and understanding in why he does the things he does is NOT defending or excusing his actions

People don't understand that he was so far gone that it took him literal DEATH to decide to be even a smidge better. Most people gloss over that because he reincarnated, but his ass died over that shit 😭

I’m not defending Rudeus ok BUT what if you had those things happen to u and ur left holed up in ur room for I think 20 years I may not be correct but it was a long time what do u think would happen to the average person especially as a teenager in the age of technology. I’m not saying they’d do exactly what he did but they will be mentally not ok and may even be worse

understanding. sure. defending no. just glad it explains why he isn't a pedo as Rudy. he's sadly like most shut ins in japan. fixable... just incredibly broken. but they have to try which none of them do unless you oddly enough kick them out. they either fight or die. rudy did...both....? 🤣

no e of this is bad writing let me be real. all these are character flaws that he eventually overcomes later in the series. if it weren't for these moments Mt wouldn't be as good as it is.

Rudeus was bad person, but it’s wrong if someone thinks he’s still a bad person, cause he was in the past. And rudeus GOT punished for his actions, and our rudeus just got saved by original and it’s good

The bit about the niece only appears in the drafts, if you check the official site where the author originally posted the web novel, it isn't there. The specific Japanese term used was "lolicon," so you either read an old version of the web novel or the drafts it doesn't appear in the published books, that idea was explicitly scrapped. I could elaborate on this if you like just for the sake of sharing interests but you're right about most of the other things you mentioned. The thing is, even Rudeus didn't try to justify skipping the funeral just to indulge his urges or his poor choices in that first life.

Same Has me too i don't like both side, and you are objectively right that Rudeus needed to take responsibility for his actions. As the story progresses, he reflects on much of his past behavior and feels genuine remorse. At the same time, the series makes it clear that his actions have consequences he doesn't get a free pass for action. For instance, when is brother find out what the was upto on there parents funeral he was beaten by his brother and kicked out of the house, and that chain of events ultimately led to his death in his previous life. Throughout the story, many of his poor decisions result in real consequences that force him to grow. That is why I disagree with those who claim Rudeus is never get punished or never has to face the consequences of his actions. I believe such criticisms often stem from a lack of close attention to the story or lack of story comprehension. You don't have to like Rudeus, but it is inaccurate to say that the narrative always lets him off scot free.
