In *Dark Souls II*, you kill Vendrick and his brother Aldia—neither of whom was truly evil. All in all, my point is that while *Dark Souls II* certainly has a lot of repetitive bosses that lack lore, some of its bosses—even if they aren't necessarily the toughest—have deep and beautiful lore behind them.

Gwyn is just a ruler with he's own sacrifice. He's not a sadistic evil king, but the guy with his own responsibility. He's a conqueror, yes, but just as all kings (like Vendrik who slave the giants). He also have his friends and enemies, so this character more neutral for me

Yes Marika did a lot of evil things but pls start bringing Radagon into the conversation. Under Godfrey after the crusade, things were peaceful nobody was rejected (yes even omens were accepted to some extent, crucible knights being an exemple and his dialogue when he sees Morgot shows that he had a relation with him prior). It was under Radagon’s golden order that people were being shunned and things decayed. The dude had a vision that Marika didn’t agree with. He’d rather keep the world broken as it is, that is why he bars the door into the erdtree.
