MOUNT SNOWDON - 18/01/2025 - 08:19am - THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE Yes guys, this really is the UK….. As always however, safety first people, so if you’re going to hike a mountain please remember the following: Have the correct kit - Crampons, portable chargers, ski goggles, torches, food + water, a first aid kit, and decent walking boots/waterproof warm clothing are essential to summit a mountain safely. All my gear comes from a variety of outdoor adventure shops who I highly recommend from @gooutdoors @mountainwarehouse @montaneofficial @regattaoutdoors @thenorthfaceuk @thenorthface @oexoutdoors Leave plenty of time - To summit this for sunrise, I set off at 4:45am and arrived at 6:45am (sunrise was at 8:19am) taking a total of 2hrs moving time. The common time to complete the ascend is between 3 hours. Remember you have to descend also however. Check the Weather forecast - Mountain weather is forever changing, and this was super lucky to get a cloud inversion. High winds mixed with rain/snow/fog are the worst conditions to hike in and extra care must be taken in this scenario. @metoffice have a specific mountain forecast for ranges across the UK. Let people know - One thing I’ll always do for a hike is let someone know what time I am setting off, where I am hiking too and what time I’ll be expected to be back in contact again. Experience - If it is your first time hiking a mountain, I recommend to do it with someone or take the easiest route to the summit where they’ll be others. I am quite experienced in hiking mountains now. I took the pyg track up and the miners track down. To make sure I stick to the route, I download a map of the trail from @alltrails beforehand which works offline. This means my chances of getting lost are very minimal.
