What I'm saying is every relationship has conditions that allow it to continue. In a healthy relationship, those conditions might be love, trust, respect, and teamwork. In an abusive relationship, they might be: - Being criticized. - Being called names. - Having your feelings dismissed. - Walking on eggshells. - Constantly apologizing just to keep the peace. - Giving up your wants and needs. - Accepting disrespect. - Letting your boundaries be ignored. - Being afraid to disagree. - Pretending everything is okay when it isn't. So when I say what I said in the image, I'm not blaming you. I'm trying to get you to shift from asking, "How do I make this relationship work?" to asking, "How does this relationship work?" Because when you're able to answer that, it's a lot easier to see the relationship for what it really is.
