I wanna explore why Filipinos tend to say things in 2 different languages, knowing full well that either would suffice. For example: "Naku, thank you so much. Salamat talaga." Anyone has any idea why? I do this a lot too. 😁

I have to ask "why" because I want to know the intent behind the question. it could be busy ka? if not, gala tayo libre ko. if I know that then I'd definitely say yes. but if it is "busy ka? if hindi, patulong ako sa application letter ko", then I'm likely to say no. we ask because we want to make sure our answer truly reflects what we are ok with.
