I’ve got a pre op in a few days. My BP at home is usually about 140/82 but each time I go to hospital it goes up I’m worried they will cancel my op

My GP put me on Amlodipine as he was convinced I had slightly raised blood pressure, which I wasn't convinced of. Went to a cardiologist who told me to stop taking the BP meds 3 days before & have a 24 hr BP monitor fitted. Guess what... no high blood pressure. When he informed my GP & I asked if I could come off the meds, I was told to 'do what you want' 🙄 GPs are trying to keep everyone on these meds unnecessarily

Great teaching! I've battled with this thought for long. My doctor told me my bp has been high for a long time but I knew how nervous and anxious I get when I visit the hospital which obviously contributes to the spike. I'm taking your instructions to practice. Thank you.

Thank you. My BP is always high when I go to my GP. So everytime I have it done I'm already anxious. I have been with both my husband and son when they've had their BP done and as soon as I see the monitor, cuff or hear the buzz I can feel my stomach tighten.

I have whitecoat hypertension at home. That's how hypochondriac I am. What helps is breathing normally, but from the belly.

When I take my blood pressure at home it's 'normal'. When I'm at the doctors it always rockets sky high. 🤪

The absolute BEST explanation of how blood pressure works, and how to take it that I have ever heard! I have looked at a lot of videos on this and the analogy with the water bottle was stellar. Thank you so much!💕🌈

Had this few months back. Sat relaxing early morning tea in garden nothing felt stressful , but noticed a blurring in my eyes thought I,ll take my BP found it to be high 213 / 198 , spoken to 111 where advised me to seek immediate medical help , they arranged a taxi found myself in AE. And a 2 day stay in hospital to lower my blood pressure. , this was normal morning no stress only blurring in my eyes. , I would say to anyone don,t pass it off this could ended in a stroke or worse. Be careful out there take the waring act on it.

I have had high bp for years and I'm so mad at myself for not forcing more from my family dr. By not doing so I was flown to Vancouver in critical condition with only 20% left of my heart working. I've just turned 68. I also had a tucasubo (broken heart)heart attack while I was there. 2 nights and I almost had a code blue. I wish recovery if there's going to be any would hurry up.
