They described the directive as a positive step towards improving the welfare of security personnel who complement conventional security agencies in safeguarding lives and property across the state. The Edo State House of Assembly recently directed all 18 local government council chairmen to submit payment schedules for vigilante personnel to the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government, Honourable Addeh Isibor, on or before July 24, 2026. Although the Assembly is yet to reconvene after the deadline, many residents have welcomed the move, describing it as a demonstration of the legislature's oversight responsibility in ensuring accountability at the local government level. They, however, urged the House Committee to follow through with the directive and impose appropriate sanctions on any council chairman who fails to comply. The stakeholders also praised members of the Edo State Security Corps for their dedication and sacrifices in protecting communities across the state despite the challenges associated with their duties.
