How to use Lime Mortar! 👷🏼‍♀️🧱 Using lime has transformed our old house from a damp, cold and smelly place to a fresh, dry and airy one ☁️ If you’re struggling with stubborn damp I can’t recommend using lime mortar/plaster enough. Its breathability is ideal for solid stone walls 👌🏽 We swear by the Ironstone Lime Mortar from Womersleys its premium quality and it’s so straightforward to work with. We use the colour “Chalk” for a soft, bright look. The staff at Womersley’s are all super knowledgeable and always on hand to offer help if you need it 🤍 Once you get the hang of the pointing itself the only complex part of using lime products is caring for them. You want to slow down the curing process to ensure your lime sets properly, if it dries too quickly it will crumble and crack. My basic lime rules are: - Don’t point when frost is due within 3 months or in really hot conditions - Protect fresh lime from the elements with hessian and regular misting - Make sure you really whack it into the joints with your churn brush (the fun part 😂) I hope this video helped showcase just how simple using lime really is! Would you ever use lime in your property? I’d love to hear about your experience with it 🏡 #restoration #renovations #cottagerenovation #farmhouse #farmhouserenovation #listedbuilding #listedbuildingsofinstagram #dampproblems #damp #renolife #renovation #stonemasonry #limemortar #limeplaster #limemortarpointing #pointing #building #oldbuildings #limemortars #mortar #lime
