No. She had three mistakes that determinated her fate: 1. Believing Matthias was perfect and never caring to know him as a person which made her blind to his true nature. 2. Being the first person to notice Matthias obsession with Layla, blaming Layla of something she didn't want to be part of and messing with Layla just to feed her own ego which made Claudine a liability for Matthias. 3. Thinking she was more intelligent than she really was and that was her biggest mistake, the one that took away the future she worked for so hard through her entire life; she was a smart woman, but not as smart as she thought she was and that became her blind spot that Matthias later used to leave her behind because had Claudine been really smart, she would've taken advantage of her contacts in the upper class to make wealth for herself because women were allowed to and she would've dumped Matthias for Riette but she was obsessed with being one of those archaic women in a time when everything was changing. I always say that If Layla, a poor rejected orphan was capable of making something out of herself, can you imagine what Claudine could have created for herself have she been more open minded and intelligent? she read the room but didn't act accordingly to that and that was her demise.
