في كل مرة أمشي بين أزقة جدة التاريخية، أشعر أنني لا أصور حجارةً أو مباني قديمة، بل أبحث عن قصة لم تُروَ بعد. في هذا اليوم، قادتني خطواتي إلى زاوية 97 حيث يلتقي الفن بالحرفيين وحيث لا تزال الحِرف القديمة تجد من يحفظها من النسيان. وبين أصوات المكان وزحمة الناس لفت انتباهي رجلٌ يجلس بهدوء إلى جانب زوجته لم يكونا يتحدثان كثيرًا فقد كانت أيديهما تقوم بكل الحديث خيطٌ يمر فوق آخر لونٌ يعانق لونًا كانا يحيكان السدو لا كحرفةٍ لكسب الرزق فحسب بل كلغةٍ ورثاها عن الأجداد يحفظان بها ذاكرة الصحراء وقصص البيوت ورحلات القوافل وأيامًا كانت تُروى بالخيط قبل أن تُكتب بالحبر. كل إطار التقطته وكل حركةٍ لأصابعهما كانت تروي حكاية عمرٍ كامل من الصبر والإتقان والمحبة. في تلك اللحظة، لم أرَ حرفيين يصنعان قطعةً من السدو، بل رأيت رجلًا وزوجته ينسجان ما هو أعظم من الخيوط ينسجان هويةً كاملة ويحافظان على إرثٍ كان يمكن أن يضيع لولا أمثالهم. ‏Every time I walk through the alleys of Historic Jeddah, I feel that I am not filming old stones or ancient buildings, but searching for a story that has yet to be told. ‏On this day, my steps led me to Zawiya 97, where art meets artisans, and where traditional crafts are still preserved from being forgotten. ‏Amid the sounds of the place and the crowd of people, a man sitting quietly beside his wife caught my attention. They did not speak much, for their hands were doing all the talking. ‏One thread crossed another. One color embraced another. ‏They were weaving Al Sadu, not merely as a craft to earn a living, but as a language inherited from their ancestors, preserving the memory of the desert, the stories of homes, the journeys of caravans, and days that were told through thread before they were written in ink. ‏Every frame I captured, and every movement of their hands, told the story of a lifetime filled with patience, craftsmanship, and love. ‏In that moment, I did not see two artisans weaving a piece of Al Sadu. I saw a husband and wife weaving something greater than threads. They were weaving an identity, preserving a heritage that might have been lost without people like them.
