Your dad had leverage with the bank, so being confrontational worked out to his advantage. So the point is, if you have leverage, be confrontational; if you don't, you need to focus on gaining leverage.

Yes, but part of it is your dad had leverage (multiple accounts). If your’e going to be confrontational you need some leverage too, otherwise you’re just a crazy guy yelling at a bank teller.

Bro exactly the same situation with me. An example I always think of is sometimes I’d have trouble getting my cat to get out of a certain place and my dad would always just come in and shift her whether he was bitten or not but the lesson to me permeated all my dads actions in someway and that was sometimes you gotta let your hand get bit by the cat to get what you want and it might come with some pains but you’ll be alright.

Consider your privilege, please. You were told “No” because THAT is the policy. “No” is what EVERYONE is told. The only reason YOU were refunded YOUR fees is because: a 1.) man with 2.) significant money (ALL of our accounts will be pulled) insisted upon you. I’ve had hundreds in overdraft fees years ago, same situation. I fought, it didn’t matter. And things like THIS can start the snowball of not being able to get out of the hole.

My family is very non-confrontational to the point it harms us and me just because they are scared of confrontation. So many seats at public events lost, opportunities lost, man countless things all because it’s like they’re scared. I try step up and be the guy that WILL be confrontational and they start reprimanding me when I’m completely justified. So insanely frustrating
