A person may have valid immigration status and a Home Office grant letter, yet face difficulties because Border Force records appear incomplete or outdated. Here are five things you need to know. 👇 1️⃣ How can this happen? Your UKVI account may show your current immigration permission, while the information available to Border Force appears to show an earlier decision, such as a refusal that was later superseded by a grant. 2️⃣ What could happen at the UK border? You may face lengthy questioning and delays while officers attempt to verify your status. In more serious cases, reliance on outdated records could contribute to an incorrect refusal of entry. 3️⃣ What should you check before travelling? Make sure the passport you intend to use is linked to your UKVI account and that all personal details are correct. Your passport information should also match the details given to your airline or other carrier. 4️⃣ What evidence should you carry? Be prepared to access your eVisa and generate a travel share code. It may also help to carry your Home Office grant letter, relevant previous decisions and any physical immigration document that remains valid evidence of your status. 5️⃣ What if your status is still not recognised? Urgent legal representations may be required, asking the Home Office to correct its records and confirm your right to enter the UK.
