Thanks so much for this, Doc!! 🙏 Just wondering though—I saw that some Belo SunExpert sunscreens that I use are formulated with shea butter. Would that mean it could also clog pores or cause whiteheads or milia? 😮 Wondering what your take on this is too 🙏

belo, let's not generalized. you did say MOST moisturizers, but A LOT of moisturizers don't contain thick occlusives anymore. moisturizers these days contain a lot of hydrators now without the waxes, butters, oils, etc. anymore. and ironic enough, your sunscreens contains some of these ingredients to begin with 😐

Doc, I think what most Filipinos are confused about is the LABELING on skincare products in the market. It is mostly labeled as MOISTURIZER however, it composts hydrating ingredients.

If you use only humectants in a dry environment, they can actually become less effective because there’s nothing helping to slow water loss. That’s why many well-formulated moisturizers contain both humectants and occlusive/emollient ingredients.
