For those asking, golden hour is for mother and baby to release certain hormones that can help the mothers uterus contract, establish breastfeeding, regulate the babies system as well as mum and it allows for them to form a bond even if mother doesn’t feel the bond in that moment since some women dissociate which is fine and normal after giving birth.

My husband was honoured to let me have the golden hour with our little boy. He saw how traumatic my delivery was and noticed how all the clouds cleared once I had him in my arms. He just sat beside me telling me how proud he was 😭😭😭

With our first, it was a 3 day labor and a hard delivery- so when he finally came they rushed my son over to the little incubator table thing. My husband was checking on me, but he kept looking at our son out of the corner of his eye. I was like go! go see him.! Didn’t have to tell him twice lol

my husband started crying when they wanted our daughter to do more skin to skin cuz she was bit cold and the nurse said "dad can do it if he wants" and he was like i can?! he was so excited

I feel so guilty about the fact that my husband didn’t get to hold our daughter until she was already 3 hours old 😭 We were busy working on breastfeeding and other things, and he was just patiently waiting his turn 😢

I’m here for the opposing side in the comment section ✨ My son was taken immediately and was suctioned and giving oxygen for his whole first hour. They laid him on my chest for approximately 10 seconds, and I’m pretty sure my husband held held him first. We breastfed for 16 months and he was a huge mommas boy up until this year (he’s almost 4!) Golden hour is great, but don’t let any of these comments convince you that it’s necessary or that you’re doing it wrong by not taking that whole hour

my husband was the same way. I was so fearful he would beg in the Golden Hour but he just was there admiring us and so patient. he respected it be no reminders. I had to say " do you want a turn" and he said "are you serious?! yes!" and ripped off his shirt for skin to skin ❤️

My partner did this too. I asked him to hold our baby while I went for a shower and he said “are you sure????” 😭😭😭 Omg I love him so much

my first did golden hour with her daddy, I just remember waking up amd seeing him shirtless doing skin to skin then passing out again. I'm so glad they had eachother at that moment

With our first, I was too numb and stiff from the position I had been laying in with the epidural to be comfortable with my baby on my chest. I practically begged my husband to take him because I was so afraid to drop him. With our second, I went unmedicated and had full control over my limbs so I snuggled that baby for two hours while my husband had to WAIT HIS TURN 😂

I'm not gonna be breastfeeding so I wanna split the golden hour with my husband. He's been waiting a very very long time for this. I had my first at 22. I'm 36 now and he's 37 and this is his first baby.
