She’s both masculine and feminine. But it does not take away her femininity. the whole point is she had to kill the soft lamb in her and become a wolf. She had to raise and protect 2 children by herself. She was AFRAID of what could happen to them. How can they not imagine her pregnant as a fierce mother. Her name means lion. She is a lioness.

I'll take it a step further and say it's mainly because of people's Eurocentric view of what womanhood. Ambessa is a black warrior queen who wears wears intricate braids, gold adornments and MAKEUP in battle. Womanhood equaling frailty is a primarily WASP-patriarchal standard.

Totally agree with the video! Just wanted to share my thoughts on something these comments seem to be arguing about: saying she's "feminine" or "masculine" is neither correct nor incorrect. Ambessa is just a woman. A woman who is also a mother, a military commander, very strong, likes jewelry and fancy hairstyles, has muscles, a brain and a complexity far beyond what we can understand in our current society. Debating if she's femenine or masculine erases the point of not just this character, but also every single woman in Arcane. Heck, I don't think we do this debating very often with Arcane men, do we? Either way, that's just my personal opinion. Great hot take btw!!!
