Hurrah it’s National Zebra Day 🦓 So I had to come over and see our special boy Ziggy and bring him some cookies to celebrate 🎉 He’s over here with his best friend Tyler the miniature donkey and is doing very well. He is still testing positive for the herpes virus so he’s still quarantined as well as still having wound care and extra loving with his heated quarantine barn. These beautiful zebras are done so dirty by the USA. The fact the states of Texas and Oklahoma allow people to have canned hunt ranches where people pay to come shoot exotic animals is heinous. The cowardly “men” who come have a few beers and shoot one do these beautiful animals for “sport” and for fun explains a lot about what is wrong with this world of ours and the people who live in it. They are nothing more than spineless sociopaths and the people who run them should all go to hell. Ziggy is our poster boy of all that’s wrong with them. Once bred these babies are taken away from their mothers after a day, bucket fed milk replacer to make them reliant on humans and taken to livestock auctions. They are then exposed to every disease possible and most likely both contracted the herpes virus there that subsequently killed Zephyr. We are so glad Ziggy lived so he can keep raising awareness for this awful practice. The sale of exotic animals needs to end in southern states and more protections granted them. I am glad there is a national day for them but this country needs to do way better caring for and protecting their animals on every level. I would say people need to have more humanity but I have to accept this is what humanity does to other species. They say the truest test of someone’s morality and character is what they do when they have something at their mercy. Truer words were never spoken.
