My own alternate ending of Brokeback Mountain😂 Alternate Ending: "The Cabin" Years later, 1990s. Ennis finally sells the ranch and moves. He drives out to Lightning Flat, Texas, where Lureen said Jack lived. Instead of finding out Jack died, he finds Jack alive. Jack left Lureen years ago after their marriage fell apart. He’s been living quietly, working on a small ranch, still riding, still thinking about Ennis every June. They don’t have a big speech. Ennis just gets out of the truck. Jack looks up from fixing a fence. Jack: "You’re late." Ennis: "Took me 20 years." They don’t move to the city or make it public. They just get the 2 weeks a year they always wanted - but now it’s every year. The last shot is their two shirts hanging in the same closet, in a small cabin they share. Not perfect, not easy, but theirs.
