This idea that we have to hurt ourselves in order to get ahead, to show our value, has done such terrible harm. If you’re somewhere you shouldn’t be, you don’t have to stay there to prove yourself to anyone. Do not suffer needlessly. You have this one life. This one chance. And though I’m unsure what comes next, I’m certain that this life should not be wasted in anguish. Today I had such an intense day of figuring out so many technical things that just drain my energy in every possible way, and at the end of it all I remembered: this is it, I just have this one life.
