I didn’t even have to wear my boot for very long and the soreness and weakness I had in my healthy side hip was so bad

When my son ruptured his Achilles he was in a cast then when he started wearing the boot there were inserts that he had and he had to wear each insert for a period of time……the insert would get smaller as his Achilles healed. He was also doing physical therapy.

13 days postop today. Got the splint removed and went into a cam boot. I miss the splint ha ha! The angle of my foot in the boot is different than it was in the splint so it’s ridiculously painful again. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but today was no fun. Thanks for sharing your story.

I have the same injury and I am 11 weeks past surgery. I had to wear the vacoped until week 7. Now I can do almost everything again like walking, swimming, cycling. I just can't do it for a long time because of the loss of muscle for now. Stay strong and have a good recovery 💪🏻

There is also usually a specific bottom that has an increased wedge specifically for Achilles injuries

That’s the VACOped Xelgo boot. I was in one for five months. They sell extra liners on the Oped Medical website and you are definitely going to want more than one liner if you are wearing it 24/7. The liners are machine washable but have to air dry and you need to give them a couple days to fully dry after washing. If they didn’t sent you an extra key, you should order one because the one on the back of the boot will get caught on something, fall off and disappear.

I’m in a cast until next Monday following a tendon transplant on my Achilles tendon and then I go into a boot for up to 12 weeks.
