"Seven Bridges Road" is a real rural route in Montgomery, Alabama, known as Woodley Road (County Road 39). It inspired the famous song written by Steve Young in 1969 and later made into a major hit by Eagles in 1980. The Real Location: Woodley Road runs south from East Fairview Avenue in Montgomery over the Catoma Creek area. The Bridges: The two-lane rural stretch features seven small bridges—three pairs and a final seventh bridge about a mile south. The Song Origins: Country-folk singer Steve Young wrote the track after carousing and looking at the moss-covered trees under the moonlight with friends. The Eagles Version: The band famously used the a cappella song to warm up their voices backstage before turning it into a staple harmony-driven live performance.
