But ATS and recruiters require I have experience doing duties that check the boxes of the role I am applying for. I applied for around 200 roles and had only one interview. I’m not convinced my CV is the main issue. With over 20 years of experience, I think overqualification and assumptions about my salary expectations are more likely reasons I’m not getting interviews. I could be wrong....

GREAT video Melissa. Just sent out resume #138 today. Good or bad, I’ve tailored 95% of my resumes to that specific job for the specific skills they are looking for. I’ve had 6-8 interviews since 04-01-26 when I started this process. Preciate you and what you do.

I wish I could afford your services. I feel so lost and overwhelmed lately. I’m hunting and applying as hard as I can. I have paid for my resume to be ATS-optimized. I’m reaching out to my network. But it has been two months of steady applying and not even a single interview. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. But every penny is so precious that I can’t afford to even get help.

So glad I recently found your content! I’m in a mid life career pivot from academia back to industry so my industry experience is 10+ years old and my skills, although aligned with my industry and transferable, read very academic. Do you start with relevant experience even if it’s old? Or reframe recent experience and keep it first?
