The thermacella are nice but how often they break! We bought two new ones and one didn’t work and that’s not my first experience w that so always test!

Thermacell makes a backpacker version that uses IsoPro fuel tanks. It's very light, wildly fuel efficient, and you don't need to worry about charging another battery. Only good for camp, but the thermacell principle only really works while stationary anyways! Love mine!

Thermacells are extremely toxic to local pollinators, fish, and aquatic life. I actually bought one thinking it’d be great and then opted not to use it once I learned. They’re synthetic pyrethroid pesticides also very toxic to cats.

No shade on thermacell, trust me I’m in the midwest and it’s BAD here- I just want to say to please use it sparingly because it does affect our pollinators. Protect yourself from the bugs when you need to but only when you NEED to. (:

I always download a movie (LOTR), some music, and my AirPods. I unfortunately need music or a movie to fall asleep to. Sometimes if I wake up super early, I’ll sit with my coffee and watch my movie. It’s so cozy and I get to watch the sunrise.

Thermacell is incredibly toxic to aquatic life so it should never be used near water. It also kills way more than just mosquitoes. Its definitely a useful tool but I don't think it's place is in the wilderness if you respect the environment.
