listen, im 20 and suddenly have everything in common with my mother who had me at 19 because we're both 20 for the first time 😅 that's all the proof I need that I never want children, and if I ever change my mind, I will not be having them in my 20s. mom should have gotten to enjoy her 20s. she shouldn't have had to wait until she was 40 to be 20.

I secretly love indulging in the regretfulparents subreddit. It serves as a repeated reminder that I’ve made the correct choice to remain child free. I have a disabled adult relative who lives with me and requires total care, and I struggle daily with the mental load that this brings. I just know a child would have given me the same, or possibly worse, stress.

The ones who push for having children also don’t think that some people don’t want to have children because they don’t want to pass on chronic illnesses and disabilities because we don’t want them to suffer they way some of us have. 💔

my mum loved being pregnant & having kids (apparently she wanted 3 but my dad said hed leave her) but she had me & my brother at 38-41. id guess why she liked it was because she was financially stable at the time & also we have universal healthcare & had experience with babies for years before

Completely true...my new hire trainer actually admitted to being a regretful parent when I mentioned being child free. He said I made a smart move. I also have a friend that is also a regretful parent. She often tells me she wishes she never had any either.

This is completely true. My mom had three kids before me. I was the fourth and the last and I’m the only accident and I don’t take it personal or anything, but she tells me every now and then whenever she gets down and thinks about it that she kind of wishes she’d never had me she loved me but I wasn’t planned and she wanted to stop at 3 kids not 4

My folks stopped at one. They stopped bringing me on trips with them at 14 and would leave me home alone. They begged me to buy a house close to them, now they haven’t visited me at my home in 8 months. Don’t invite me over except for holidays. I don’t have kids because they made it seem so hard and clearly don’t want to spend time with me really. Got a full ride through college, hard worker, married a great guy… it’ll never be enough.

The older I get the less appealing parenthood looks. I feel like without the burden of children I can use my time to try to accomplish more goals and dreams.
