@thespectatormagazine: '14 moped accidents haven't happened as a result, but one can of beans hits someone's Pekingese and I'm on the front page'. Quoting a friend that runs a drone delivery business, Rory Sutherland explains the asymmetrical impact that emotion can have on otherwise objective data. #socialfirst #politics

Absolutely horrendously intrusive, hovering over gardens and destroying the peace of whole areas. His arrogant attitude really riled people up and no prior consultation was evident. They were not akin to ambient noise. In many people's opinions, their whole modus operandi was definitely not about road safety so a disingenuous reason. They are not operating currently in Ireland. Your initial response was correct. Canberra, Australia totally banned fastfood Drone deliveries. Ask yourself why

Refused planning permission for a depot in Dundrum. Pulled the operations from Ireland until planning laws change, not gone by popular demand, few snobs on Dundrum didnt want it near a bleeding Church..... 🙄

Yeah I’ve seen it in action. Cool and all but the locals are very unhappy about the constant overflights of their homes and the noise of the drones - they’re really very loud.

The problem with Bobby Healy is that he thinks there is a gap in the market. But there is no market in the gap. Stick to manufacturing and the system will play ball for you

Bobbys mistake in his idea was seeking domain of airspace for drones across the city so that other drone flyers had to apply for special petition via the Irish aviation authority. This instantly put people off his idea and no amount of marketing would get him out of that. That story of him “blocking the sky’s” took over before any benefits could be presented.

The worst thing about drone deliveries is that I suffer the consequence through noise pollution, where someone else (bobby) makes the profit. Unless everyone wants delivery it won’t be accepted.

They are called Manna, they never looked closer into the noise, despite the lowering of sound, in residential areas it just wasn’t quiet enough or private enough.

Yet Bobby's drone delivery service required taxis or Manna staff to go to collect the food etc. from the store, and take it to their take off spot. And his business is due to no longer operate in Ireland.

@alanjamesdunne chickenshit turning off replies. Same outcome, but one is fine and the other gets called names. I know people lived under those drones every night, dogs going mad, kids trying to sleep. Those slobs (see I can do it too) ordering their burgers and chips would have been ordering anyway whether it came by drone or moped, so the number of deliveries proves my point not yours.
