The Companions (Ṣaḥābah): Those who met the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as believers and died upon Islam, such as Abu Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, Uthman ibn Affān, and Ali ibn Abī Ṭālib. 2. The Followers (Tābiʿūn): Those who met the Companions, believed in the message brought by the Prophet ﷺ, but did not meet the Prophet himself. 3. The Followers of the Followers (Atbāʿ al-Tābiʿīn): The generation that learned Islam from the Tābiʿūn.
