@directafricatv1: Senegal and Gambia Reach Final Border Agreement, Work to Resume in August The Senegalo-Gambian Permanent Secretariat announced Thursday that Senegal and The Gambia have reached a final agreement on the clear and mutually agreed delimitation of their shared border. The accord follows high-level instructions from the heads of state of both countries, who prioritized dialogue, consultation and the spirit of fraternity to resolve outstanding issues. Joint activities to reaffirm and densify the southern border will resume on 15 August 2026. The work will cover the section running from Touba Tranquil–Dar Salam to Saré Yoro Guèye–Jahanka. The secretariat congratulated Honourable Alieu Njie, chairman of The Gambia’s National Border Commission, and Major General Cheikh M. L. B. Camara, chairman of Senegal’s National Border Management Commission, for their efforts in securing the agreement. The development marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties between the two West African neighbours. Officials said the process underscores a shared commitment to peaceful resolution of border matters through continued cooperation.
