Local here! Keep lots of water with you and electrolytes. Hike early! Lost mine, balanced rock, Santa Elena canyon, the window, upper and lower burro mesa- all great! Closed canyon in the state park. Come see us at Long Draw Pizza! 🍕

I’ve been going to Big Bend for 40+ years. Hate to say this, but you’ve picked the worst time of the year to go. Presidio, at the end of River Road rivals Death Valley in temperature. This time of year it will be 114° routinely.

STAY AT WILLOW CREEK CAMPGROUND . Its is a private 10 acre property 5 minutes from big bend entrance , very cheap and VERY REMOTE. I went for 5 days and HIGHLY recommend trying too see all 3 different types of regions at big bend entrance chihuahua dessert, Chisos maintains , and Rio grande village. 8its so fascinating to see so much variety in the desert . Honestly changed my life . SOTOL VISTA FOR STAR GAZE AND MILKY WAY , MUST DO HIKES - Lost mine , EMORY PEAK (2nd highest elevation in Texas ), and window trail . Rio grande village is perfect for sunrise.

the best place to be!! I would say if you have a passport and spare time, definitely go to Boquillas! It was a special experience imo and we rode donkeys over! I have tons of videos from big bend on my page if interested! The window trail is always popular with pretty views and the possibility to see a bear! I also love the nature trail at Rio grande village campground around sunset or if you go at night, I saw an owl and little mice fighting lol PS-it's going to be sooo hot don't forget to stock up on gas and water!!

Sotol Vista for an amazing sunset! It’s worth the wait to eat at Starlight Theater in Terlingua. Also get breakfast or lunch at Espresso Y Poco Mas. Big Bend is magical.

Boquillas is a money pit but a unique experience. Drive down from Marfa to Presidio, then drive to Terlingua. It’s the most beautiful drive in TX. You’ll need to start the hikes early and end early because of heat. Get a tripod for your phone if you want to take star pictures

Me and my man just went 2 days ago, loved it go see santa elena canyon, and lost mine trail amazinggg! keep an eye on gas, they do have gas stations in the park expensive but it helps

If you think you have enough water, bring more because I promise you it isn’t enough. Also, bring plenty of electrolytes to add to it. Every other “bottle” should have electrolytes. I live out here and the #1 injury for hiking tourists are heat related injuries, dehydration, etc.

just came back last week! It was HOT! everything was blooming, purples, yellows and pinks, bc of the amount of rain they received a few a back. STUNNING. Actually the Ranch state park was much more breathtaking. Mind your gas, water and snacks.

theres a nice newly bulldozed trail, if you lean towards the left id suggest you take it. the scenery is great

boquillas is beyond worth visiting and the town needs as much support as they can get with border construction destroying areas near the river. They solely thrive on tourism and the most welcoming people we look forward to seeing every year!

We did balanced rock trail about 7 PM. It’s one you can squeeze in late for better temperatures. All the rest I’ve done in the fall so I can’t speak to you, but this is what we did a few weeks ago go
