I don't think this illustration is trying to tell us that Pure Vanilla and White Lily are lovers. I think it has a deeper meaning behind it. If you look closely, you can see Shadow Milk in his serpent form near White Lily. That made me realize this illustration is inspired by The Lovers tarot card(the card in the bottom of my comment). Even though it's called The Lovers, that tarot card isn't only about romance. It can also symbolize choices, understanding, and important relationships. So, in my opinion, this illustration is showing how desperately Pure Vanilla is trying to understand both White Lily and Shadow Milk. Throughout the story, he's always wanted to understand White Lily's choices, and now he's also trying to uncover the truth behind Shadow Milk. To me, that's what this artwork is really trying to convey, rather than simply saying that Pure Vanilla and White Lily are lovers.

1. Im honestly surprised at how SOME shippers are taking the card too literally just bc it it called The Lovers. it also shows which shippers are toxic 2. The shippers I seen were pretty, chill abt it ig. I have seen some people be upset and move on but guys. Just because a ship is canon doesn't mean u have to ship it. It's a ship. and 3. Smc got the costume bbecause it was lore important 😭
