@diyonajewelry: Setting a diamond is one of those things that looks simple but really isn't. The stone has to be cut just right, and the setting has to be cut to match it. The prongs get carved out little by little so the diamond sits in them perfectly, not too loose and not too tight. If the seat is off by even a tiny bit, the stone can sit crooked or come loose over time. So our jewelers take their time and check the fit again and again before the diamond ever goes in. Once the fit is right, the diamond gets pressed into place and each prong is bent down over the edge of the stone by hand. This part matters more than people think. Done right, the diamond is locked in for life and catches light from every angle. Done wrong, you're back at the jeweler in a year.
