As a CT tech, the scanners auto adjust for your body mass, so it is literally impossible to tell you an accurate number until AFTER your scan

As a ct tech I hope everyone asks me. And then they refuse to get scanned 🤞🏼. Dose is based on a lot of different factors. And we wouldn’t know until after they’re scanned. You’re a genius! Pass this on to EVERYONE

As a radiation therapist and a former CT tech I can tell you nobody in general population knows what mSv even means. It’s like telling someone you will be exposed to 17 carrots. 🤷♀️A better advise is to ask if CT scan is a must? Is there maybe a possibility we could achieve the same result with lesser exposure X-rays first. Unfortunately doctors tend to abuse CT as a diagnosis tool.

Sir, do you think we have dosimeters laying around to calculate how much radiation you’re getting on your chest X-ray???? No, we don’t! A CT scan does give the dose but it’s dependent on many factors. Everyone’s dose is different. Please stop fear mongering.

yeah that's a stupid thing to say because CT scans are not done just on a whim okay there's usually a tumor they're looking at or something very important that you have no choice but to have it done... so you should retract that statement
