Unfortunately I don’t agree, Zoom interviews are highly convenient for the candidates too, I can have an interview during my lunch instead of taking time off work or calling in sick. I can also interview for roles much further away.

That’s not right. Remote work and interviews saves a lot of money and time for job seekers and also it’s environment friendly as you don’t have to travel for it!!!

I think he's missed the mark massively on this one. Having both conducted zoom interviews and had them, it's very easy to see someone's personality. It's better for the applicants not having to spend lots if time and money commuting to an interview too.

Also if you are on a low income it’s very handy to do interviews over zoom. You have an equal chance & not having to spend loads of travel, shoes ect when you may not even get a second interview.

The online interview also suits candidates. rather than spending 4 hours including travel when you likely already have a job is not easy to do, instead an hour online can be done without any problems

What I don't like is when employers advertise knowing full well who the internal candidate is who is getting the job but have to advertise externally and waste a load of people's time!

Also stop multiple stage interview/application processes for entry level jobs or minimum wage. Why are 16 year olds asked to complete tests and multiple applications and interviews to work in a supermarket for example.

Hearing this really disappoints me to be honest. I disagree. This is such an old school mentality of thinking. Some of us find face-to-face interviews awkward and communicate far better when we are relaxed in a comfortable environment. In a modern world Teams is far more accessible than face to face. An interview should assess whether you can do the job, not who performs best under the pressure of sitting in a room.

Respect burnham but he’s probably not had a job interview in 20 years. Teams interviews are orders of magnitude easier for candidates to showcase themselves. Especially for young people who are even more adapted to talking over the internet

as a recent grad who’s applied for 100s of jobs, its definitely more convenient for me to do a zoom interview as opposed to trekking halfway across london for a job i have a 5% chance of actually getting
