Do you switch to maintenance mode to do this before switching back to prod? 🤔 If not how do you account for the changes to the DB that happen while you migrate, backup and test 😏... The info is incomplete, they might want to know🤷♀️

the migration scripts are typically auto created by diffing the new database schema against the current schema. this has been happening since I started in the 80s at least
