@davidjonesmental: OCD is just memorized subconscious patterns in your brain. It happens when you memorize that if a certain danger happened it would be the worst thing in the world to you. Your brain thinks it has to always do these 4 things to protect you from any “danger” 1. Make you think about it 2. Make you feel bad towards it 3. Convince you it’s real 4. Convince you it’s bad/dangerous Since OCD is not a real danger, it’s a memorized one. Then your brain will always do those four things towards whatever fear you have memorized to make sure you always “protect” yourself. So anything that goes towards your theme of ocd you can automatically know is just your brain imagining things up to try to scare you not because it’s true reality. Even if you say “well the fear could be true”, it will never be true because you are thinking and feeling it. Most themes are just totally lies that will never be true. Even the other themes are still lies 99.9999% of the time And even if there is a bit of truth, everything your brain is telling you about it that’s making you worry and suffer is a lie. Example: if my theme is worrying people are judging me- someone might actually be judging me, but everything my brain tells me about them judging me to make me worry and suffer is a lie. So still everything my brain is telling me about my theme turns into a lie. And the worry and fear or beating yourself up will never protect you. Instead empowered action can protect you from the “danger” Confidence and good beliefs will always help you take empowered action to stay safe MORE then worrying and suffering will. So the worrying your brain is doing will never be for your good and because of that, it can always be treated like it’s a lie. And the reason your brain is telling you about it is always because your brain has memorized a lie. Not because it’s true. #ocdawareness #ocdproblems #ocd #ocdlife #ocdrecovery
Ok but what do you do when the intrusive thought becomes 24/7 and you know it’s not true but you can’t stop it? Such as monitoring your blinking

Sophia Grace Marshal :
To everyone in the comments suffering, this really does work. I’ve had OCD since being a child, after a particularly bad episode in my early 20s, I had to take the approach of actively shutting down the thought and exercising this EVERY DAY like a muscle. Eventually it got less and less. Now I live quite freely unaffected by it. Wishing you all the best on your journeys 💙

Ok but my OCD tells me that one day I’ll die and so will everyone I love. In my case it’s telling the truth. But it invades my mind EVERY time I try to enjoy myself.

Brains are wild, I’ll just say that. The hardest work is becoming the observer and realizing your brain is something separate that can be molded
