You know I don’t know you or your mother but from the reaction I see from you when it comes to your mother seems to me you do care. You need to accept the fact your mother will never change or give you what you need. You need to decide to help her or whatever it is she wants from you or don’t . There is no boundaries when family is sick or dying, you just accept and do what you have to do for her or your sister. You are the sane better person , she doesn’t control who you are and if there is mental issues with her, you have to take it in and let it go. Sounds like she will never be the mother you wanted or needed, so let that part go. You seem to be an amazing mother and that’s all that matters.

I am so sorry. I know what you are kind of going threw. I have a no contact with my mom. she is very mentally ill and I got verbal abused while growing up by here when she wasn't in thr nut house. I tried to be a good person when my daughter was born, but she wouldn't stop telling people my husband beat me and our daughter who at thr time was a baby. he never raised a hand to us. I just got tired of it and told her to stay away. my daughter will be 28 in Nov and we still have had no contact with her since my kids were toddlers.

Today is 8-9 and I just went searching for the last time you talked about all of this because I wanted to see how you were doing and how you were handling it. You are so right, it doesn’t happen overnight and it’s not a trend…it should be the hardest thing you do because it’s your parents. I am dealing with very similar things and it’s not easy or fun. How are you doing today on 8-9?
